Description
Addiction took me to a dark place in my life, I remember the sweet sound of its voice telling me to take that next hit, promising me that this would be the one that would set me free from all the misery, pain, heartbreak and emptiness. It never failed to remind me about how my life was in shambles, how my family and friends didn't care if I was alive or dead, about how unworthy of ever finding true happiness or how nobody would ever love a junkie like me. My name is JR Weaver and I was the guy that lost everything and stood on the edge of the abyss believing that there was nowhere to go, nobody to turn to and that this world was better off without me. I suddenly realized that all these problems, everything that had gone wrong over the last 20 years was influenced by my addiction. My addiction had blinded me to the chaos and isolated me while it destroyed my life. In that moment of clarity, I made the toughest and best decision of my life, I chose to stand up for me against a enemy that knew me better than I knew myself. I have learned to understand the truth about addiction after it nearly destroyed my life and I choose to help others find their way home. People talk about rock bottom as being the end, but I'm telling you it's the beginning, the beginning of something beautiful and amazing. You have the opportunity to rebuild your life, or you can choose to continue on the road to self-destruction. The choice is yours.
