Topics include the San Francisco 49ers, beach volleyball, personal computers, AIDS awareness, the space shuttle program, compact discs, cable television, gene mapping, video games, aerobics, minivans, mountain biking, Cabbage Patch Kids, camcorders, talk shows, the Vladimir Horowitz concerts in Russia, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the freeing of American hostages in Iran, the movie E.T. the Extraterrestrial, hip-hop culture, country music, the novel The Bonfire of the Vanities, the Broadway musical Cats, the television program The Cosby Show, NCAA March Madness, figure skating, the Senior PGA tour, and the basketball rivalry between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics.
